This might be the beginning of a long list of strike-backs that embarrass me, since I can’t think of another time when a flick has gone to DVD with an alternate opening. I think this is a pretty sweet idea, and might just buy this thing for that reason alone.
VACANCY is about a couple (Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale) who check into a hotel room only to find a bunch of cameras hidden in it. They soon realize that unless they escape the motel, they’re gonna be the next victims of a snuff film. The DVD features will include behind the scenes footage and ‘some extended snuff films’. I wonder what the alternate openings could be? Perhaps one of them would open with Luke Wilson in a Hollywood office discussing his career with his agent and wondering how he went from OLD SCHOOL and BOTTLE ROCKET to MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND and BLONDE AMBITION. Or maybe it would open with Kate Beckinsale just being hot. Either would be welcome. Let the strike-backs begin!
