I love Tim Allen. I spent a huge chunk of my wasted youth watching HOME IMPROVEMENT, so no matter how many SANTA CLAUSE movies he makes, I’m always going to have a soft spot for him (and Debbe Dunning). However, does he belong in a hard-boiled David Mamet flick? I’m not so sure. I’ve said before that Mamet is my all-time favourite writer, and that’s basically the only reason I’m not hating that Tim Allen has joined the huge ensemble cast for the upcoming REDBELT. Allen is to play a troubled action star with marital issues who meets the Jiu-jitsu master (Chiwetel Ejiofor) while he’s having a new ass hole torn out on a street somewhere. Allen joins the cast that already includes Emily Mortimer (MATCH POINT), frequent collaborator Ricky Jay (MAGNOLIA) and Mamet’s wife, Rebecca Pidgeon (HEIST).
