Colin Farrell can currently be seen playing a tortured detective on HBO’s underwhelming second season of True Detective, but he plays for the other team in the horror-thriller SOLACE. Farrell plays a psychic serial killer who matches wits with another man with the same gift, portrayed by Sir Anthony Hopkins. An international trailer for the film has just been issued, and you can find it below.

Directed by Afonso Poyart, SOLACE has been stuck in a rut; it completed filming back in 2013 and there’s no word on when it might see the light of day in the U.S. Recently-bankrupt Relativity Studios was handling distribution here, but they’re gone now. This film may still have a long road to release ahead of it. That said, it looks as if it’s on course to come out on September 9th in France and September 25th in the U.K.

The story centers on a former doctor with psychic abilities (Hopkins) who is drawn into a serial-killer case, only to find that the killer (Farrell) is a psychic as well — so the two men can detect each other’s moves.

SOLACE also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Abbie Cornish.
