Since breaking into the biz with his 2007 script THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE, Allan Loeb has since found great success with far more base, commercial enterprises. He’s written 21, THE DILEMMA, THE SWITCH, JUST GO WITH IT…hell, you get the picture. Now, Loeb trying his hand at a subgenre he’s never attempted before: the epic disaster movie.

The L.A. Times reports that Loeb has just turned in a script called SAN ANDREAS 3D, a high-concept earthquake movie that the trade calls “the mother of all rollers that stretches from California to Nevada…” New Line is developing the project, currently looking for directors to realize Loeb’s vision.

On the subject of script, the hero is forced to go on the road to reconcile with his children and his estranged wife, who’s moved away and taken up with another man a la John Cusack’s character in “2012.” (According to a person who’s read the script, the “San Andreas” hero makes the trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco using some rather, er, unconventional transportation.)

Funny, I didn’t really think so much of Roland Emmerich’s movies as much as I did the 70s disaster genre. Movies like EARTHQUAKE, AIRPORT 75, THE TOWERING INFERNO, that kind of shite. Who knows, maybe I’m just nostalgic!

More on SAN ANDREAS 3D as it shakes up…
