According to Variety, actor Bokeem Woodbine is in talks to join Colin Farrel in Len Wiseman’s remake of TOTAL RECALL.

Woodbine, who has starred in films like THE ROCK, BLACK DYNAMITE and, most recently, DEVIL (pictured right), would play Quaid’s (Colin Farrell) best friend who has a “kind of big brother relationship with him.”

There isn’t a character like that in the original film, though it’s been obvious for a while that this new version will be a different beast altogether. Based on what’s been written, the new story involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.

Bryan Cranston is in line to play Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.

Kurt Wimmer, Mark Bomback and James Vanderbilt all toiled away on the screenplay; the film is set to begin filming soon in Toronto. It currently has an AUGUST 3, 2012 release date.
