Tarantino has been really going all
out for GRINDHOUSE, but this is definately going above and beyond what I
expected for press coverage.
We got word today that Tarantino
will be taking over a theatre in the Beverly Hills area and turning it into a
70’s themed ‘Grindhouse’ that will feature non-stop double and triple features.
The flicks will start playing on
March 4th and continue through April 30th. There will be over 50 films shown and
many of them are from Tarantino’s personal collection. How’s that for
dedication! Tarantino will also display classic Grindhouse artwork from his
personal collection.
Here’s what Tarantino had to
say about GRINDHOUSE and this little film festival that he’s putting
together. “GRINDHOUSE is a tribute to the movies I
have loved for decades that have mostly been under-appreciated and forgotten.
I’m thrilled to have this chance to show the original works for a new generation
to discover, and to give Los Angeles the rare opportunity to see these gems on
the big screen.”
This seems like a really sweet way
to ease into GRINDHOUSE, which hit’s theatres April 6th. And while it
probably won’t be as cool as my GRINDHOUSE party (My mom’s making party
potato’s!) it will still be worth checking out. For more information on the
movies playing and at what times, check out the official site for THE BEVERLY
HILLS CINEMA here.
