Production on any series during the time of COVID remains a difficult task, let alone on one as complicated as a Star Trek series, but executive producer Michelle Paradise recently took to Twitter to announce that Star Trek: Discovery season 4 has finally wrapped. Production on the fourth season kicked off last November, which means that the series has been shooting for nearly 11 months.
According to the official synopsis, the new season will find “Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery facing a threat unlike any they’ve ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all.” Discovery has certainly improved over the years in my eyes, but even if it’s not to your liking, there’s plenty more new Star Trek on tap. The second season of Star Trek: Lower Decks recently began, with Star Trek: Prodigy set to debut later this year. We’ve also got the second season of Star Trek: Picard slated to premiere next year, and the brand new live-action series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds expected to launch in 2022 as well. There’s also a new Star Trek movie in the works that’s set to be directed by WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman from a script by Lindsay Beer and Gena Robertson-Dworet.
The fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery is expected to debut on Paramount+ in late 2021.
