The Dude abides, indeed. Jeff Bridges is reflecting on the gift that is life now that his cancer is in remission and he is back to work full time.
Jeff Bridges was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2020. On top of that, while undergoing chemotherapy, he contracted Covid-19, which he said made cancer feel like “a piece of cake.” In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Oscar-winning actor discussed not only difficulties of having both cancer and Covid, but the positives that came out of it. As it turns out, both were something of a blessing.
“Dealing with your mortality, it makes things more precious. It’s a gift, man, to realize that I’ve got eyes to look at all this beautiful stuff in the world. I can feel the temperature of the day on my skin. I’ve got a wife who loves me, my kids, too, and I can bathe in that love. It’s all a gift.”
So if you thought The Dude had taught us everything he knew by mixing the perfect White Russian or declaring that the Eagles suck, you’d be quite wrong. But that’s just, like, our opinion, man.
Jeff Bridges, whose cancer went into remission last year, is happily back on the studio lot. Bridges hasn’t been in a feature-length movie since 2018’s Bad Times at the El Royale, but his acting contributions are flowing once again. He currently stars in the Hulu series The Old Man, which premiered in June and has already been renewed for a second season. The drama series marks Bridges’ return to the small screen for the first time since 2008.
