A 4th Blade; guest stars?

Despite what the box office showed with the third film, New Line and Marvel are thinking of making another sequel to BLADE. At least, that’s what Marvel execs said at this year’s New York Comic-Con.

The execs were quoted as saying, “The third movie did very well for us, and there’s room for more”. Okay, so the film cost approximately $65 million to make, and raked in $52 million at the box office. Granted, DVD sales and rentals boosted that up, but still. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first film and dug the second (albeit the romance angle was a little iffy), and the third was so-so. It’s just that Mr. Snipes has a little issue with New Line over the third film, and I think New Line would have a tough time getting him back, unless they go with TV Blade (Kirk “Sticky” Jones), which I’d be hesitant to since Snipes played the ultimate badass.

Speaking of TV Blade, the Comic-Con panel also stated that like another superhero TV show (‘Smallville’), there will be a few Marvel guest-star characters dropping in on the show. Writer David Goyer (do NOT direct BLADE 4!) added, “There’s a new adversary for Blade that we took from the comics. We had to reinvent him a bit, but it’s going to be pretty cool …We might have a couple of characters from Marvel comics that you might be surprised about.” Could Goyer be referred to Morbius, the scientist-turned-vampire? We’ll have to wait and see. ‘Blade’ hits SpikeTV June 28.
