A couple more for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

Quentin Tarantino’s Western DJANGO UNCHAINED might have recently lost Kevin Costner, but other actors are being collected for the sprawling tale in the pre-Civil War South.

Actor Dennis Christopher will get the hypothetical QT career boost, playing the lawyer to Leonardo DiCaprio’s villain Calvin Candie. Christopher has been at it for a while (BREAKING AWAY, CHARIOTS OF FIRE), though some of you might know him better from “Deadwood” and the TV miniseries based on Stephen King’s IT.

Meanwhile, actor Michael K. Williams (“The Wire”, “Boardwalk Empire”) could still find himself with a role in the film. Williams was an early favorite for the lead role before Jamie Foxx landed the part, but now tells AICN that he’s optimistic about appearing in the movie in some capacity. Who will he play (and who cares, as long as he’s in it)? Williams claims that Tarantino wrote a role for him (although it’s possible an existing role in the script was just expanded for the actor).

The movie has Foxx as a slave named Django, who is freed by a German bounty hunter named Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz takes the free man under his wing and trains him in weapons and deception, assisting his violent quest to be reunited with still-enslaved love Broomhilda. Gerald McRaney and Samuel L. Jackson (naturally) will also appear.

The Weinstein/Sony production hits theaters on December 25, 2012.
