A few behind the scenes photos from John Carpenter’s The Ward!

Barreling toward a September 24th release is John Carpenter’s THE WARD, a psychological chiller that marks his first feature length directorial effort since 2001 (GHOSTS OF MARS). As such, Premiere Picture has just served up a handful of production stills from Carpenter’s set, and while they don’t offer a whole lot of graphic carnage, it is good to finally get a better look at the flick we’ve been tracking since March of 2009 (when EWalk reviewed the script).

Of the more exciting, we get to see a nighttime shot of the mental asylum featured in the movie, as well as the same or a possibly different structure going down in flames. We also see good ol’ Johnny looking half asleep in his trusty director’s chair. As cynical as it sounds, I think Carpenter may have taken this job simply to spend months around young, hot, female ass. What do ya think?

Speaking of the young, hot, female ass – THE WARD stars Amber Heard, Danielle Panabaker, Lyndsy Fonseca (below), Mika Boorem, Mamie Gummer, Sydney Sweeney, Laura-Leigh, Jillian Kramer and Sali Sayler all star in the film.

Kristen (Heard), a beautiful but troubled young woman, finds herself bruised, cut, drugged, and held against her will in a remote ward of apsychiatric hospital . She is completely disoriented, with no idea why she was brought to this place and no memory of her life before being admitted. All she knows is that she isn’t safe.

The other patients in the ward, four equally disturbed young women, offer no answers, and Kristen quickly realizes things are not as they seem. The air is heavy with secrets, and at night, when the hospital is dark and foreboding, she hears strange and frightening sounds. It appears they are not alone.

One-by-one the other girls begin to disappear and Kristen must find a way out of this hellish place before she, too, becomes a victim. As she struggles to escape, she will uncover a truth far more dangerous and horrifying than anyone could have imagined.

Check into THE WARD September 24th.
