A gritty AVP

Following yesterday’s announcement that the Strause brothers had signed on to direct ALIEN VS. PREDATOR 2, Variety posted a report on a couple details that the brothers had to mention.

First off, shooting will begin this September for next summer’s release. Shane Salerno, who rewrote the original script for the first film, wrote this sequel’s script. Now, before you start saying, ‘Oh man, the film is going to suck like the first!’, keep in mind Paul Anderson is out of this one, and according to Colin Strause, the two directors want to take it back to the original ALIEN and PREDATOR films and make a “serious, gritty horror film”. “We want to take it back to its roots, without losing sight of the human struggle,” added Greg Strause. “That’s what made the originals so good.” THANK YOU. Finally, someone gets it. None of this brown-eyed Predator crap. I want friggin head-popping, chest-bursting, acid blood-spilling HORROR.

Obviously, no word on casting news as of yet, but since the film is scheduled for shooting in the fall, expect cast members to show up soon.
