It seems like every day nowadays, you can’t escape news stories that contain the buzzwords “artificial” and “intelligence” when referring to movies or the movie business. However, back in 2001, Steven Spielberg took a look at this concept in a far-off future where the world had the technology ingrained into everyday life in a “high-tech Pinocchio” fairy tale. The film, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, starred breakout Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law. Now, Spielberg’s take on an unrealized Stanley Kubrick story is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Paramount will be commemorating the anniversary with a newly released 4K Blu-ray. According to Blu-ray.com, the upcoming physical media 2-disc steelbook will arrive at retailers on December 15. Just in time for the holidays, so get those Christmas lists ready!
The description reads,
“In a future world of runaway global warming and awe-inspiring scientific advances, humans share every aspect of their lives with sophisticated companion robots called Mechas. But when a prototype robot child named David is programmed to show unconditional love, his human family isn’t prepared for the consequences. Suddenly, David is on his own in a strange and dangerous world. Befriended by a streetwise Mecha, David embarks on a quest to discover the startling secret of his own identity.”
