A killer doll totes some oxygen in Cult of Chucky image

Last week ended with a flood of news regarding CULT OF CHUCKY, the upcoming seventh film in the CHILD'S PLAY series, and while an official still isn't quite as exciting as this trailer or that trailer or the list of Blu-ray special features, it is something that gives us another look at the killer Good Guy doll in action, so it's worth sharing.

In the official still below, we see Chucky carrying a tank of compressed oxygen. That's not really the sort of thing you want to see this guy carrying around – actually, you don't want to see him carrying anything, because he can make anything into a deadly weapon, but there's just something especially dangerous about the combination of Chucky and a tank of compressed oxygen. The ending of JAWS comes to mind. With an exploding person instead of a shark.

Written and directed by Don Mancini, who has written every CHILD'S PLAY / CHUCKY movie and previously directed SEED OF CHUCKY and CURSE OF CHUCKY, CULT has the following synopsis:

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions – an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face – a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy Barclay, Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany, Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Grace Lynn Kung, and Summer H. Howell star, with Brad Dourif once again providing the voice of Chucky.

CULT OF CHUCKY hits Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on October 3rd.

If you can make it to the FrightFest film festival in London at the end of August, you'll have the chance to see CULT OF CHUCKY's global premiere.
