A Mad remake planned

Another remake of a fairly recent film is on the way, although as a person unfamiliar with the title, I’m not going to lose my shit over it. If anything, my curiosity is now piqued and I’ll seek out the source material. (Always the upside to these remake announcements.)

The film is called THE MAD DETECTIVE. Released in 2007, it was directed by Hong Kong-born autuer Johnny To (FULLTIME KILLER), and tells the story of a disturbed detective who possesses the ability to literally see a person’s inner demons. Naturally the detective gets caught up in a sinister case, but I’d rather not even dig too deep into the synopsis as I’m already planning on watching it for myself.

The producer in charge of the remake, Arthur Sarkissian (RUSH HOUR, CHOPPER CHICKS IN ZOMBIETOWN), said that he’s open to letting To helm the project himself, telling Variety: “…if Johnnie wants to remake his own movies on an international level, that would be great.”

We’ll keep you updated on the film’s progress, as always. For now, let’s all hunker down with the original! (BYOB)
