A man tries to avoid a sleep demon in exclusive Mara clip

In A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS, there's a reference made to a young person who cut off their own eyelids in a desperate attempt to make sure they would stay awake and not have to face the dream stalking murderer Freddy Krueger. If you've been disappointed that you didn't actually get to see some eyelid slicing back then, we have a treat for you today: an EXCLUSIVE clip from the upcoming supernatural horror film MARA in which a man decides that cutting off his eyelids is the best way to make sure he stays awake.

The threat in MARA is an ancient demon that attacks people while they're experiencing sleep paralysis, giving Freddy some competition in dreamland.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE Bond girl Olga Kurylenko stars in MARA, the feature directorial debut of Clive Tonge. Written by Jonathan Frank, this "shock-filled descent into fear" has the following synopsis:

After a man is seemingly strangled in his bed, criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) interviews the sole witness, the victim’s eight-year-old daughter, Sophie. When asked to identify the killer, Sophie says, “Mara.” As Kate digs into the case, she unearths a community of people who claim to be tormented by a shadowy menace, a centuries-old demon who kills her victims as they sleep.

Javier Botet, Mitch Eakins, Lance E. Nichols, Rosie Fellner, Mackenzie Imsand, Dandy Barrett, Craig Conway, Melissa Bolona, and Gia Skova co-star.

MARA is scheduled to reach VOD, Digital HD, and select theatres on September 7th, and I'll be watching it for sure. Check out the clip below (the video also includes the film's trailer) and see if you'll be interested in watching MARA next month.
