A new trailer for Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines rolls in

After surprising fans with a 30-minute long preview of MORTAL ENGINES at this year's New York City Comic Con celebration, Universal Pictures has dropped a new trailer for the upcoming fantasy action adventure epic for all to enjoy! Co-writing the screenplay for the film, which is based on the series of novels by Phillip Reeve's, are THE LORD OF THE RINGS and KING KONG helmer Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh (THE LOVELY BONES) and Philippa Boyens (KING KONG).

Directed by Christian Rivers (THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, THE HOBBIT trilogy), the story of MORTAL ENGINES takes place hundreds of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, when a mysterious young woman, Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar), emerges as the only one who can stop London – now a giant, predator city on wheels – from devouring everything in its path. Feral, and fiercely driven by the memory of her mother, Hester joins forces with Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan), an outcast from London, along with Anna Fang (Jihae), a dangerous outlaw with a bounty on her head.

MORTAL ENGINES star Hugo Weaving (THE MATRIX trilogy, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER), Hera Hilmar (DA VINCI'S DEMONS), Robert Sheehan (GEOSTORM, THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY), South Korean singer and actress Jihae (MARS), Ronan Raftery (FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM), Leila George (THE KID, THE LONG HOME), Patrick Malahide (HBO's GAME OF THRONES) and Stephen Lang (AVATAR).

Word coming from the big show is that MORTAL ENGINES looks to be yet another a high-octane epic from the team that brought us some of the most irreverent fantasy sagas of recent years. We'll know for certain when MORTAL ENGINES revs up in theaters on December 14th.
