A trailer for Netflix’s hot new game show Floor is Lava erupts online

It's confession time, folks. Get ready. Would you believe that, even in my youth, I've never once played the "Floor is Lava" game? I know. I'm disappointed in me as well. Here's the thing, though. It's apparently never too late to play the imaginative spin on "Keep Away," because Netflix has crafted an adult-version of the game, and they've got a trailer for it that is sure to make you feel the heat of honest-to-goodness competition.

The upcoming game show, FLOOR IS LAVE, hosted by Rutledge Wood (TOP GEAR, SOUTHERN AND HUNGRY), tosses contestants into a a lake of fire, and expects them to navigate a series of obstacles while avoiding the floor, which of course, is made of "lava." From what I can gather, FLOOR IS LAVA looks like what would happen if Wipeout and Legends of the Hidden Temple had an ill-tempered love child. The show involves contestants leaping from object to slippery object, all while trying their damnedest not to give themselves a concussion as they traverse the game's forever-changing landscape. While I could do without the trailer's deluge of sound bites, I suppose that's just the nature of the beast, and I'd be lying if I said that FLOOR IS LAVA doesn't look like a hell of a lot of fun.

Here is Netflix's official description for FLOOR IS LAVA:

"Teams compete to navigate rooms flooded with lava by leaping from chairs, hanging from curtains and swinging from chandeliers. Yes, really."

FLOOR IS LAVA will erupt on Netflix this Friday, June 19th. For the moment, it remains unclear as to how many episodes are in the first season, though all shall be revealed in just a few days.

Welp, that's my Friday sorted. Between this and the long-awaited release of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II, my weekend is definitely coming up Milhouse. Cheers, everybody!
