Holy crap! Run for your lives! THE WIG is on the loose! Yes, it’s true, South Korea has finally tapped into the ultimate source in possessed-inanimate-object horror! Just check out that pic above. That wig looks pissed! I can’t believe it’s been three years since we last mentioned this flick.
Regardless, THE WIG finally hit DVD shelves yesterday and to coincide with the release, Fango scored a couple of eerily wacky pics like the one above (see the rest here). I will say that the DVD cover art at the bottom is sufficiently sick. I’m just not sure what to expect from the flick itself. Here’s the synopsis:
In Seoul, Su-Hyeon is terminal with leukemia, and bald due the treatment of chemotherapy. Her sister Ji-Hyeon buys a long-haired wig, but she does not disclose the truth about Su-Hyeon’s health condition to her beloved sister. While wearing the wig, Su-Hyeon recovers her health and hits Ji-Hyeon’s former boyfriend Ki-Seok, changing her behavior and relationship with her sister. When Ji-Hyeon discovers that the wig is possessed by a fiend, she finds that it was manufactured using hair of a cadaver and a dark secret about Ki-Seok’s sentimental life.
Sounds interesting enough in a J-Horror sort of way. And since I normally sport a near-bald look, perhaps I’ll be able to relate more to the scares. THE WIG was directed by Shin-yeon Won from a script by Sung-won Cho. It stars Min-seo Chae, Hyon-Jin Sa, and Seon Yu.
