Just last month, my man Jared P. informed us here that the forthcoming sequel to ABOMINABLE had just obtained Larry Hama as its writer. I was happy as hell to hear it because I thoroughly enjoyed the actually well-done ABOMINABLE and was left at the end wanting more. Check out The Arrow’s positive review here.
And now today comes the news of some plot details regarding A2 from the flick’s returning director, Ryan Schifrin. The story is apparently going to involve the wheelchair-bound Preston (Matt McCoy) as well as Buddy the clerk (Jeffrey Combs, who only made a brief, but memorable appearance in part 1). Here’s precisely how Schifrin put it:
“Well, Buddy will definitely have survived being bitten and have the scars to prove it. We’re still keeping the plot under wraps, but there is a military component, which Larry Hama really did a stellar job with, and the ending of the last one clearly sets up that there’s more than one of the furry critters out there. Think ALIENS and PREDATOR, but with Buddy and Preston thrown into the mix….”
Sounds like he’s following the first rule of sequels, ie: putting things on a grander scale. McCoy really did an excellent job in the first one, so I’m glad he’s back. And you can never go wrong with Jeffrey Combs (REANIMATOR, THE FRIGHTENERS), so my hopes are high for A2 (not to be confused with P2). Kick ass, Mr. Schifrin!
