Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter adds two: Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper

Timur Bekmambetov continues to build his ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER cast; after pegging Benjamin Walker to portray the titular character, the Russian helmer is now filling in a few more roles: According to Deadline.com, Anthony Mackie (so great in THE HURT LOCKER) has come aboard to play Lincoln’s best friend, Will.

Variety, in the meantime, has just busted out the news that Dominic Cooper (CAPTAIN AMERICA, HELLO DARKNESS) has also joined the film; he’ll play the role of Henry (a role originally thought to be inhabited by Joaquin Phoenix). Cooper seems poised to blow up, mostly thanks to his roles as Uday Hussein and the commoner who “doubles” for him in the upcoming film THE DEVIL’S DOUBLE (pictured above).

ABE LINCOLN’s book synopsis: Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother’s bedside. She’s been stricken with something the old-timers call “Milk Sickness.”

“My baby boy…” she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother’s fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, “henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…” Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

The flick comes out in June of 2012.
