Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman dead at 46 (1967 – 2014)

Tragic news today as Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has died at the age of 46. The actor was found dead in his New York apartment today. No official cause of death has been announced, but according to NYPD sources, “there was evidence of injectable drugs found at the scene.”

Hoffman had carved a path of respect and dignity as an actor, taking on a diverse amount of roles thoughout his career. Hoffman emerged on the scene with his early roles in HARD EIGHT, TWISTER, and BOOGIE NIGHTS. He would go on to tackle many high-profile projects, such as THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, ALMOST FAMOUS, COLD MOUNTAIN, THE SAVAGES, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR, MONEYBALL, THE MASTER, and of course, CAPOTE, which awarded him a Best Actor Oscar and Golden Globe win.

Hoffman was most recently seen in THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE and his A MOST WANTED MAN debuted at Sundance just a few weeks ago. He was currently filming THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY sequels. His presence in film will be sadly missed. A tragic loss of an esteemed and much respected actor.
