Of course this is more than welcome considering SAW is always one of the biggest genre releases of the year. This year is no different as the seventh installment is gearing up to be one of the best of the franchise, or so we’ve been told. So who’s spilling on SAW 3D today? Sean Patrick Flanery of course! The actor recently sat down with Maple Pictures and talked a bit about the 3D in SAW 3D. What do I mean by that? Well Flanery went on to ease everybody’s mind as to what kind of 3D we’ll be seeing in the film:
“Three-dimensional blood and gore – yeah! I’m excited to see that, I think it’ll be neat. It’s not shot in 3D so that you can, per se, see blood coming directly at you. It’s in 3D for the texture and the depth, for the architecture, to get a sense that you’re in the scene but there’s no ‘we want to see blood coming at the lens’ it’s nothing like that. But I think we made a good movie. I haven’t seen the final product yet but the script was really cool, it really is.”
Well that’s good to hear. One thing the SAW franchise doesn’t need at this point is the cheap gimmick of 3D that has things flying off the screen at you, so it’s good to hear the 3D element in this one will be more of an all-around thing. When the actor was asked if there would be a twist in SAW 3D he responded with: “There is, I can’t really reveal it, but there is.” Well this is a SAW film after all….
As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen (Flanery), a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror…
Along with Flanery (above) the film also stars Tobin Bell, Cary Elwes, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Gina Holden (below), Tanedra Howard, Chad Donella and Shauna MacDonald. SAW 3D drops into theaters October 22nd!
