Adam Green and Chris Columbus serving up Killer Pizza

As part of a new pact to make three family friendly horror flicks, Chris Columbus (HOME ALONE, the first two HARRY POTTER flicks) and his 1492 Pictures are joining forces with none other than Adam Green (you know…) to adapt the young-adult novel KILLER PIZZA. Just let that sink in for a moment…

The title is a tad misleading. The film isn’t about an actual pizza that commits murders. Rather, the tale is an action-packed, coming-of-age comedy is about a 14-year-old boy who lands a summer job at Killer Pizza — where such pies as the Monstrosity and the Frankensausage are on the menu — but quickly learns it’s a front for a monster-hunting organization.

Green is writing the screenplay, but no word yet on whether he’ll be directing the flick. Raffaella de Laurentiis (CONAN THE BARBARIAN) will be producing through her Raffaella Prods. shingle.

While at first glance this may seem like an odd pairing, Green has proven that he can do tongue-in-cheek horror as HATCHET is played for laughs more than a few times. It’s probably safe to assume that he grew up with MONSTER SQUAD and THE GOONIES just like most of us did, and is preparing a loving homage to those fun 80s classics. In other words, I’m pumped!
