It’s no surprise the genre product currently opening wide across the country is nothing to brag about. I’m not even going to bother going through the list of horrible films getting released wide across the country while little genre gems like [REC] 2 are doomed to limited theatrical releases, if any. Fortunately in today’s entertainment world we’re being given more and more opportunities to check out the lesser known genre stuff out there, and this is of course giving developing filmmakers a standing chance out there.
One man that has benefited from what I’m talking about is HATCHET director Adam Green. Green burst onto the scene with 2007’s HATCHET and we’ve been following the guy ever since! What is this all leading to? Adam Green’s latest film FROZEN getting released on DVD, that’s what! Now we already knew that we’d be seeing the film on our DVD shelves come this Fall, but an exact date hadn’t been announced… until now!
It seems we won’t have to wait long to see Green’s latest delve into our beloved genre. FROZEN hits DVD in just a couple months on September 28th! And to celebrate we’ve got even more FROZEN goods for you!
First up the guys over at Dread Central were kind enough to share the details on what we can expect with the FROZEN DVD! Ready for the goods?
•Audio commentary with writer/director Adam Green and actors Shawn Ashmore, Kevin Zegers, and Emma Bell
•”Catching Frostbite: The Origins of Frozen” featurette
•”Three Below Zero” featurette
•”Shooting Through It” featurette
•”Beating the Mountain: Surviving Frozen” featurette

In addition, as a Blu-ray exclusive there’s an additional audio commentary with writer/director Adam Green, cinematographer Will Barratt, and editor Ed Marx.
Now that is one jam-packed DVD! But the goods don’t stop there! Today I stumbled upon a few behind the scenes shots from FROZEN over at Adam Barnick’s Facebook page. Nothing to tell mom about but if you’re interested in FROZEN at all they might be worth checking out! I’ve tossed a few up above and below but you’ll want to click through on any of the shots to check out the rest.
A typical day on the slopes turns into a chilling nightmare for three snowboarders (Kevin Zegers, Shawn Ashmore, and Emma Bell) when they get stranded on the chairlift before their last run. As the ski patrol switches off the night lights, they realize with growing panic that they’ve been left behind dangling high off the ground with no way down.
With the resort closed until the following weekend and frostbite and hypothermia already setting in, the trio is forced to take desperate measures to escape off the mountain before they freeze to death. Once they make their move, they discover with horror that they have much more to fear than just the frigid cold. As they combat unexpected obstacles, they start to question if their will to survive is strong enough to overcome the worst ways to die.
FROZEN stars Shawn Ashmore, Emma Bell, Kevin Zegers, Ed Ackerman, Rileah Vanderbilt (below), Kane Hodder, Adam Johnson, Chris York and Peder Melhuse. Check out our own Chris Bumbray’s review of the film right over HERE and get ready to check that shite out for yourself come September 28th!
