Paramount Pictures, New Regency, and Plan B Entertainment have announced that production is officially underway in New Orleans on THE BIG SHORT. The new drama from ANCHORMAN director Adam McKay counts Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Melissa Leo, and Marisa Tomei amongst its star studded cast proving that McKay will certainly have a lot of talent involved in making his first foray into dramatic features a big success.
McKay teamed up with Charles Randolph to write the script which based on Michael Lewis’ bestselling non-fiction book "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine".

“THE BIG SHORT” is the remarkable true story of the genius contrarian investors who, recognizing just how insane the housing bubble had become, figured out how to “short” the market prior to the financial collapse of 2008.
It's certainly a subject that Adam McKay is passionate about, he's tackled corrupt financial institutions in a more humorous way for THE OTHER GUYS, so it seems a fitting project for the director to take on while he ponders which Marvel film he wants to take to prom.
