"Stop looking at me, swan!" At long last, the man who so exquisitely delivered that line 25 years ago as BILLY MADISON has finally won a prestigious acting award! The Sandman himself was recognized last night at the Independent Spirit Awards as Best Actor for his truly transformative work in the insanely-underappreciated-by-the-Oscars film, UNCUT GEMS. And that sentiment was not lost at all on Adam Sandler with his wonderfully hilarious acceptance speech. Just watch:
If you have yet to catch UNCUT GEMS, I highly recommend you check it out! Such an intense, hilarious and oddly heartfelt film! The best praise I can give it is as follows: it's an Adam Sandler movie that made me forget I was watching Adam Sandler. Yeah, he's that f*cking good in it and the Academy's voters new names should be needle-dick!
UNCUT GEMS also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Judd Hirsch, Eric Bogosian, Pom Klementieff, and former NBA superstar, Kevin Garnett (who's suprisingly great at acting). Here's the film's synopsis: From acclaimed filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie comes an electrifying crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.
