Adam Wingard’s Death Note is alive: production has begun

Netflix is dipping their pen in the ink well, commencing production on DEATH NOTE. The anime adaptation, directed by THE GUEST'S Adam Wingard, will be shooting in Canada and the U.S. over the next few weeks.

Says Wingard:

I am honored to be working with this great cast and I look forward to bringing Tsugumi and Takeshi’s unique story to a global audience.

I know we still have a while before we start to see any material from this shoot, but now that it's finally in production I'm very excited to start getting our first glimpses at how he brings this story to life!

Nat Wolff will play

Light Turner, a student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone simply by writing the victim’s name. A cat-and-mouse game ensues when he’s tracked by a reclusive police officer.

Also starring are Margaret Qualley as Mia Sutton, Paul Nakauchi as Watari, Shea Wigham as James Turner, and Keith Stanfield as L.

DEATH NOTE is being produced by Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs, and Masi Oka. Doug Davison and Brian Witten serve as executive producers. They plan to start shooting this summer.
