Remember an interesting story we ran last month that had Adrien Brody in line to sue producers of Dario Argento’s GIALLO? Well, Brody has won the case!
With the success of the lawsuit – which stemmed from a failed “pay or play” policy that omitted Brody payment of $640,000 – Brody’s case has in effect shut down any major release of the film in the U.S. That is, unless Brody eventually gets his cut. Until that happens, Brody’s face/image will not be used in the marketing campaign for the flick. Nor will it be used in the finished film, if Argento and company still wish to distribute it.
Here’s what the judge assigned to the case said about the injunction:
“(Brody’s) suffering, and will continue to suffer, immediate and irreparable harm.”
Somehow, not as much harm as Argento would if the film actually saw the light of day. Because GIALLO is said to be such a terrible film, maybe Brody is actually doing the much venerated Italian filmmaker a favor. Seriously!

GIALLO is set: In Torino, where Celine, an American model, is abducted by a taxi driver while en route home to meet her sister Linda, visiting at her apartment. The next morning, Linda reports that Celine is missing – the sergeant in charge directs her to F.B.I. agent Inspector Enzo Avolfi. He’s from the Special New York City Department investigating a serial-killer that kidnaps foreigners to destroy their beauty. When a Japanese woman is found at nearby a fountain, Enzo and Linda find that the girl is calling the abductor’s skin is “Yellow” in color and Linda concludes that the guy might have jaundice. They go to the Policlinic di Torino to find the killer.
