AFI’s Top 10 of 2009

JoBloJoBlo

We’ll have our own Best of the Year lists coming to you very shortly. I’ve seen people’s choices and there are definitely some surprises on there so you’ll want to stay tuned for that. In the meanwhile, the American Film Institute (AFI) has released their Top 10 films of the year and while there are some obvious choices (UP IN THE AIR, PRECIOUS), there are also some surprises including CORALINE and THE HANGOVER. I love any year that can have two animated films in any given Top 10 and what’s funny is that there easily could be more than that.

I’ll leave the list below (presented in alphabetical order) and remind you to check back tomorrow morning as the Oscar race really heats up with the announcement of the Golden Globe nominations.

AFI’s Top 10 films of 2009:

– CORALINE
– THE HANGOVER
– THE HURT LOCKER
– THE MESSENGER
– PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL PUSH BY SAPPHIRE
– A SERIOUS MAN
– A SINGLE MAN
– SUGAR
– UP
– UP IN THE AIR
