After Dark Horror Fest 4 arrives home on DVD this March

Yesterday we gave you all the last minute details about this year’s After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films to Die For, which hits select theaters around the country from January 29th through February 5th (jump back in time HERE). And in true Horrorfest fashion, before the fest’s theatrical release has even come and gone, they’ve announced all 8 film’s release dates on DVD!

In a move that will likely be followed by every studio within the next couple of years, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release all 8 films from the After Dark Horrorfest 4 on DVD (and assumingly Blu-ray) on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Or in other words, a little less than 2 months after the fest’s theatrical release.

I get that the Horrorfest isn’t a nationwide event, and I get Lionsgate’s need for wanting to capitalize on the films before you and eye totally forget about them, but less than 2 months? That gives me less of a reason to seek out where the Horrorfest is playing near me, and more of a reason to simply wait for that shit to hit video. But maybe that’s just me.

Features are unknown at this point; what’s known is that each movie will be released individually or as a box set, so you can have your own Horrorfest in your living room. Films this year include DREAD, THE FINAL, THE GRAVES, HIDDEN, KILL THEORY, LAKE MUNGO, THE REEDS, and ZOMBIES OF MASS DESTRUCTION. Mark your calendar for March 23, and if you’re lucky, be sure to catch the Horrorfest in theaters starting January 29th.
