Afterlife pushed to 2011

If you were already making plans to see RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE over Labor Day weekend, prepare to change them, as word on the street is that the release date for AFTERLIFE has been pushed back to 2011!

That’s right folks, but it gets better! Not only is AFTERLIFE headed to 2011, it’s headed to January! And if that wasn’t bad enough, it’s now set to be released on January 14, 2011, the same f*cking weekend Joss Whedon’s CABIN IN THE WOODS is set to be released. Two big horror flicks released during the same weekend in January? Over a year from now? What the hell???

Very odd development indeed, and likely due to the 3D processing and effects that the fourth RESIDENT EVIL film is being pimped out with. Some believe their hopes is that more theaters will be 3D equipped by 2011, hence the delay. But why put it up against CABIN IN THE WOODS? That just doesn’t make any sense.

My guess is CABIN will eventually change its date so as to not compete head on with another horror flick the same weekend, but we shall see. In the meantime, readjust your calendar with RESIDENT EVIL: AFTER LIFE in theaters January 14, 2011!
