Alex Winter says they’ll shoot Bill and Ted 3 soon or not at all

It's about that time when we revisit the status of BILL AND TED 3, so before we go any further, just try to temper your excitement a bit. Alex Winter (the titular Bill) premiered his documentary DEEP WEB over at the SXSW film festival yesterday, and Mr. Keanu Reeves lent his narration skills to the feature because of his general interest, and because him and Winter are BFFFs. While talking to Yahoo Movies regarding his latest work, Winter was inevitably asked about how far along BILL AND TED 3 was, and as always, he was kind enough to give a status update.

Alex Winter on the status of BILL AND TED 3 and whether he's sick of being asked:

We’re really close. We’re just about there. In Hollywood parlance, [that] means we’ll either be shooting soon, or it’s never going to happen. We’re trying to get the movie made, so how could we be sick of it? It’s really been us driving the whole thing, me and Keanu and [writers] Chris [Matheson] and Ed [Solomon]. So we’re producing it and we’re actively trying to get it made. We’re not tired of it, but I think for our fans, we are eager to stop talking about and actually shoot the damn thing.

From the sound of it, it looks like we're no closer to a BILL AND TED 3 than we were a year ago, but at least the leads are actively pursuing it. Given Keanu's status, I'm a little shocked this bad boy hasn't been greenlit and put into prodcution already, but here's hoping that the time put into this thing means that it wont suck. We've been talking about BILL AND TED 3 for a while now, so I'm not holding my breath.
