Netflix’s Ridley Scott-produced Earthquake Bird gets a tantalizing trailer

In Netflix's upcoming neo noir, EARTHQUAKE BIRD, Alica Vikander (TOMB RAIDER, EX MACHINA) stars as Lucy Fly, an enigmatic expat haunted by a painful past, who enters into an intense relationship with Teiji (Naoki Kobayashi), a handsome local photographer. Lucy's imperturbable exterior begins to crack when a naive newcomer, Lily Bridges (Riley Keough), becomes entangled in their lives and ends up missing – suspected dead.

Set in 1989 Tokyo, EARTHQUAKE BIRD is presented as a psychologically unsettling and atmospheric thriller based on the novel The Earthquake Bird by author Susanna Jones. The film is directed and written by Wash Westmoreland (STILL ALICE), with Ridley Scott, Kevin J. Walsh, Michael Pruss, Ann Ruark and Georgina Pope producing. Kenji Isomura will executive produce. Starring alongside the film's main cast are Kiki Sukezane, Yoshiko Sakuma, Kazuhiro Muroyama, Ken Yamamura, Crystal Kay, Akiko Iwase, and Jack Huston.

In addition to debuting the film's twisted trailer, Netflix also released a batch of stills and a new poster for what's sure to be a tale of overseas romance gone terribly wrong.

EARTHQUAKE BIRD releases globally on Netflix on November 15, 2019 with exclusive theatrical screenings beginning November 1, 2019.
