Alien prequel status

Looks like Aliens and Predators are all the rage over at Fox right now. After donkey punching both franchises with the two AVP flicks, Fox chief Tom Rothman is ready to make amends with the fanboys whose lives he’s made a living hell for the past couple years by rebooting the two name brands. Obviously, we know that Robert Rodriguez is prepping PREDATORS, which is the long, long, long awaited follow-up to PREDATOR 2 (a flick I still say is damn good fun), but what about those pesky Xenomorphs that gave Ellen Ripley such a shitty couple of decades?

Well, naturally the way to go at this point is prequel, something that has always been talked about. And who better to helm the thing than Ridley Scott? Although nothing is set in stone, Rothman indicated that the prospect of Scott traveling back to outer space has at least been discussed. “There’s been some talk. Rothman told IESB. Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he’s toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it’s always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I’ve got my fingers crossed, all of them.”

Rothman goes on to talk about the state of some other Fox franchises, including DARDEVIL and X-MEN. To see the video chat, head on over to IESB.

I’m guessing neither Ripley nor her undies will be in the prequel
