Ugh.
Let’s be thankful this is only a rumor for now, but the bad boys over at Bloody Disgusting are reporting they have it on good authority ALIEN is getting… sigh… rebooted.
The reboot – a prequel, perhaps – is reportedly being overseen by Ridley Scott (who just last month was rumored to be involved with a prequel) and his brother Tony. Helming will be Carl Erick Rinsch, a t.v. commercial director. You can take a look at some of Rinsch’s pieces HERE, and while they’re all kinds of high-tech and glossy, it’s not making me excited about this project at all.
20th Century Fox is of course also rebooting the PREDATOR franchise, so why wouldn’t they just continue pillaging their library? Naturally, a few years down the line they will just give us another shitty ALIEN VS. PREDATOR movie.
I don’t know. Am I being too hard on this (theoretical) movie? Is a prequel less offensive than a complete remake? Could Rinsch be the next David Fincher? Time will tell…
