SOTA Toys is at it again. Take a fun game like chess (seriously, what else are you going to do when your DVD player’s on the fritz?) and pair it with a sure-fire moneymaker like the ALIEN franchise, and what do you get? THIS!
Okay, so it’s not as cool for those who don’t play chess, but you can’t deny the quality of this stuff! Made from nearly unbreakable pewter (the previous ALIEN VS. PREDATOR chess set was plagued with breakage due to the pieces being made of resin), the pieces in the set have the space marines against the alien hive (I guess that’s what you’d call it) from James Cameron’s ALIENS. Now, like the picture says above, it is a prototype, so it’s subject to change blah, blah, blah. Still, it’s pretty damn cool.
Set for release next February at $374.99, there will be two versions: one with painted pewter pieces and an even more limited version featuring polished pewter pieces. For more info on the set, including more pictures of the individual pieces, click here.
