Allen v. Farrow trailer: Docuseries explores Woody Allen abuse allegations

I have a feeling that things are about to get real ugly for filmmaker Woody Allen following the release of HBO's new four-part documentary.

HBO Documentary Films has released the full trailer for Allen v. Farrow, the four-part documentary series from Kirby Dick & Amy Ziering and Amy Herdy about the public scandals revolving around Woody Allen and Mia Farrow. The stomach-churning special will not be for the faint of heart, as it stands to delve into accusations of sexual abuse against Allen involving his and Farrow’s daughter Dylan, who was just seven-years-old when the events were said to have taken place. The doc will also investigate the custody trial, and Allen’s relationship with Farrow’s daughter Soon-Yi, with whom he became infatuated over a period of time.

The team that put the documentary together used home movies, court documents, police evidence, and never-before-heard audio tapes to piece the presentation together. The documentary will feature exclusive, in-depth interviews with Mia Farrow, Dylan Farrow, and Ronan Farrow, as well as family friend Carly Simon, prosecutor Frank Maco, relatives, investigators, experts, and other eyewitnesses. The series will also examine several films made by Allen, and how the scandal going public has influenced views of his work.

Although stories related to Allen have been in circulation for years, Allen v. Farrow is poised to shed a Leaving Neverland-like spotlight on the filmmaker, which some would say is a consequence that is long overdue.

Allen v. Farrow will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, February 21 at 9 p.m.
