Nothing like starting the day with a big helpin’ o’ remake news! This one won’t necessarily get your panties twisted, however, since the film in question hasn’t been released yet – although it IS an Asian horror film – so your blood might boil a little at that prospect…
The film is called ALONE (or “Faet”), a Taiwanese suspense flick from directors Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom (which I’m officially changing my name to tomorrow). They directed the highly respected SHUTTER (which is, of course, getting its own remake). The press release gives this synopsis:
“ALONE” tells the story of Pim who
moved from Thailand to Korea to escape the guilt of being the surviving half of a conjoined twin. Flashbacks to Pim’s childhood show how the bittersweet relationship with her sister, and their commitment to stay together forever, transforms into a repressive bond that ultimately leads to a separation. After she returns to visit her dying mother, the spirit of her dead sister angrily thrusts herself into Pim’s life.
My conjoined twin is an egotistical, beer-guzzling prick who watches pornography all day while covered in the crumbs of Cheetos and Ring-Dings. Of course, he’s not a conjoined twin as much as he’s, well, ME, but he still makes my social life a living hell.
The independent distribution company 24 Frames snapped up all North American rights to ALONE, in addition to the remake rights, which means that we’ll get a chance to see the flick in its original form before it gets tossed into the “Remake-o-matic.”
