Alternate ending of V/H/S revealed in still

The indie anthology horror flick V/H/S has experienced a notably positive reception from critics and fans alike. With a limited theatrical release coming up October 5th, segment filmmaker Simon Barrett has revealed an alternate ending for the film in the form of the still below:

“For your confusion/indifference, here is a still image from a deleted scene we shot for V/H/S. It will NOT be on the DVD, etc. The photo looks cool, but the scene ultimately didn’t fit the film.”

Keep in mind, if you’ve yet to see the film on VOD, I’m not entirely sure it’s going to make any sense to you. I say this because I’ve yet to see the film and don’t quite understand the meaning behind it myself. Still, those virgin V/H/S viewers who are good at figuring these sorts of things out should be wary of the risk before enjoying the synopsis and image below.

When a group of petty criminals are hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.
