Amber Heard confirms she’ll be playing Mera in Justice League; talks costume

Back in January, it was reported that Amber Heard was in talks to star as Mera in the DCEU, and the MAGIC MIKE XXL actress recently confirmed to ET that she will be playing the love interest to Jason Momoa's Aquaman in Warner Bros.' slate of upcoming DC films. The character will make her live-action big screen debut in THE JUSTICE LEAGUE PART ONE before appearing in James Wan's AQUAMAN, and if she survives both movies, she will more than likely also be in the second JL flick.

Heard also talked a little about the costume she will be wearing in the comic book movies:

It’s interesting. It's like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange… But we're building it, we’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.

Like Aquaman, Mera's powers include superhuman strength and the ability to live underwater, but she can also create "hard water" objects by increasing the density of water, and possesses a limited degree of telepathy. As for Mera's role in the DC movies, last year we brought you word that she "will be a force to be reckoned with and will share the screen with AQUAMAN in very much the same way that Max and Furiosa did in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, making her every bit a hero of the film (and the DCEU) as the titular character." Do you think Heard is a good fit to play the the Atlantean queen?

THE JUSTICE LEAGUE PART ONE is scheduled to open on November 17, 2017, while AQUAMAN will be in theaters on July 27, 2018.
