AMC’s upcoming series “The Walking Dead” is shaping up nicely, isn’t it? I don’t know about you guys but I’m a huge Frank Darabont fan so that’s a plus right there. Throw in the fact that everything coming out of the project so far has looked amazing and I think we may just have something! So with that in mind, here I am today to throw you all a couple more “Walking Dead” updates! These come courtesy of Dread Central and Bloody-Disgusting!!
First up it seems we have some brand new casting news making the rounds. Apparently child star Chandler Riggs has scored the important role of ‘Carl Grimes,’ son of series star ‘Rick Grimes.’ The youngster hasn’t been in much, just 2009’s GET LOW and the made-for-TV flick THE WRONGED MAN. But hey, Riggs (below) definitely has the look so if he clicks it might be some perfect casting right there. What do you guys think? Anyone out there actually catch this kid in action? The other piece of news floating out there we should’ve all seen coming… Actually I assumed this from the get-go and never thought otherwise. It’s been confirmed that director Frank Darabont will only be helming the pilot episode of “The Walking Dead.” Did we really think he’d be directing the whole series? I’m sure the guy has film projects he’s got to get back to! But worry not folks, if “The Walking Dead” gets picked up beyond the initial first six episodes then chances are Darabont will return to helm a couple more episodes. And let’s face it… this thing is getting picked up. So Darabont is going to set the standard and hopefully they can keep it going.
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.
