American Horror Story director is in talks direct to The Town That Dreaded Sundown

At a recent press conference for AMERICAN HORROR STORY it was announced that Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is in negotiations to direct MGM’s remake of THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN.

The remake will be produced by Jason Blum (SINISTER, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY) and Ryan Murphy (AMERICAN HORROR STORY). Aside from his experience directing for AMERICAN HORROR STORY, Gomez-Rejon has done second unit work on such films as BABEL, THE EAGLE, and ARGO. He’s also directed several episodes of GLEE, so clearly the guy has some range.

The film remakes Charles B. Pierce’s 1976 true crime/slasher hybrid. It tells the story of a serial killer who wreaked havoc in the border town of Texarkana during the 1940s. Like the Zodiac killer, he was never caught. As a fan of the original, I must say that this is one case where a new version could have a lot of potential. With the AMERICAN HORROR STORY team behind it, I think we may be in good hands here. Agree? Disagree? Talkback with your thoughts below.
