American Horror Story’s 8th season will be a Murder House/Coven crossover

Although American Horror Story was conceived as an anthology series, recent installments of the Ryan Murphy series have found certain characters from previous season crossing over, and it seems that the upcoming eighth season will be the biggest yet in terms of bringing the franchise together. Ryan Murphy had previously teased that an upcoming season of American Horror Story would serve as a "bizarre" crossover between Murder House (season 1) and Coven (Season 3), but added that it wouldn't be the next season. It seems that Murphy has had a change of heart as he took to Twitter to announce that the eighth season will indeed be the Murder House/Coven crossover season.

At the time, Ryan Murphy said that the Murder House/Coven crossover wouldn't be happening next season as not all of the actors would be available, but either that has changed or Murphy has found a way to make it work. Even with this announcement, we're left with more questions than answers, which is typical of the American Horror Story franchise. It will be interesting to see if Murphy has been able to lure several of those Murder House actors back to the franchise, such as Connie Britton, who hasn't appeared in the series since that first season, and Jessica Lange, who called her AHS career quits after the fourth season.

Production on the eighth season of American Horror Story is set to begin this month, and Ryan Murphy has previously said that the new installment will be set eighteen months in the future and will star Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Billlie Lourd, and Joan Collins. Murphy further teased to Entertainment Weekly earlier this week that the season will be "very high concept" and "unlike anything we've done because there's a big hook to it. There's a huge thing that happens in episode five." We'll also see so many fan favourite characters return that it'll feel like The Love Boat. I've enjoyed American Horror Story in the past, but skipped the entirety of the past season. Will a Murder House/Coven crossover be enough to lure me back in? I don't know, but I'm definitely a sucker for both Connie Britton and Jessica Lange.

How do you folks feel about a Murder House/Coven crossover?
