Amy Adams being sought for English remake of The Orphanage

It literally seems a day can’t go by without me reporting on some sort of reboot or remake, but few are as upsetting as this one is to me.

Not only is THE ORPHANAGE one of my favorite horror films of all time, and the original was perfect in Spanish, but it was actually SO good it was released in 700 US theaters back in 2007, and many of us have seen it on DVD since.

But no, we need someone to retell the story to us in ENGLISH to save our poor eyes from reading subtitles and our ears from the horrible language of Spanish. Could we BE any more American?

In any event, this is all leading up to the fact that Amy Adams is being sought for the lead in the film of Laura, whose son goes missing shortly after she moves into an old orphanage she grew up in as a child.

I like the movie, I like Amy Adams, so sure, this is fine if it does come to fruition, but there’s nowhere to go but down from the original. Best case scenario it’s like LET ME IN which was a fine movie in its own right, but was overshadowed by its foreign language counterpart anyway.
