Amy Heckerling talks a bit about her new flick Vamps with Alicia Silverstone!

It was on St. Patty’s Day that we were treated with the news that genre champion Sigourney Weaver had been pegged to play a bloodsucking Queen in Amy Heckerling’s horror-comedy VAMPS, doing so alongside sexy stars Alicia Silverstone (below) and Krysten Ritter (right). By my unreliable math, that was three months ago. So what the hell’s been going on the interim?

Well, it looks like Heckerling caught up with the good folks of Moviehole.com, and did her best to keep as irritatingly mum as possible. Seriously folks, what we have below ain’t a whole lot, but at least it’s something. And thankfully, that something is likely to eschew the lame vampire glitterati of say, TWILIGHT. Peep it..

When discussing a slew of projects, old and new, Heckerling finished her convo with the following:

”Hopefully, it (VAMPS) will be something new, but you can’t help being who you are, so things never stray that far.”

And regarding the prospect of reuniting with Silverstone (CLUELESS), Heckerling beamed:

”I love Alicia as if she were my own daughter. Whenever I see her, I just feel happy, and the idea of seeing her every day and making a movie is about as good as it gets for me.”

Aw, isn’t that sweet. Not sure a saccharine love-fest will translate to a scary movie, or even a good one. But Heckerling’s got a pretty formidable track-record, so I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt. For now!

VAMPS, out in 2011, centers on two female vampires in modern-day New York City who are faced with daunting romantic possibilities.
