An animated Ghostbusters film is in the works at Sony

Another day brings yet another GHOSTBUSTERS film over at Sony. With the release of Paul Feig's take on GHOSTBUSTERS still many months away, The Wrap reports that Sony is already putting another GHOSTBUSTERS film into development, except this time, it will be an animated film from Sony Pictures Animation. At the moment there are no writers on board, but it's expected that Ivan Reitman would be involved as one of the producers.

Sony will soon begin hearing takes from writers, and The Wrap's insiders say that the story could be told from a ghost's point of view this time around. As this potential project is still in the very early stages, lets take all of this with a pinch of salt; but, as Sony seems set on turning the GHOSTBUSTERS into their next big franchise, I'd imagine that another film set in Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS universe featuring a new team of scientists battling the supernatural is inevitable.

Much of the cast of the original film have turned up for cameo appearances in Paul Feig's film, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver, which doesn't really leave a lot options for any new cameos in the sequels. Run and hide, Rick Moranis! Run and hide! GHOSTBUSTERS will debut on July 15, 2016.

I know many of you are lukewarm on GHOSTBUSTERS, but is an animated GHOSTBUSTERS film more to your liking?
