Who would have ever thought a big named director would be attached to direct a zombie TV series? Only in the new decade, I suppose, and only on American Movie Classics. We’ve been following the story of Frank Darabont’s THE WALKING DEAD carefully (relive its triumphs HERE), and now it looks like a 60 page pilot script from Darabont is floating around. The verdict? This thing is gonna be awesome!
The fine folks at Coming Attractions got a hold of the script, read it, and reviewed it. Here’s a couple of lines that sum up their experience with what goes down on the page: THE WALKING DEAD TV series has what it takes to transcend the boundaries of being simply labelled a horror show [with] the psychological horror scenes. Those scenes are the hammers that you’re going to remember and the ones that are going to propel this show to be viewed as something more important than just a scary show.
That’s what I like to hear! Not that I thought Darabont would deliver anything less, but since we’re talking TV, since we’re talkin’ zombies on TV, there is always a chance that it doesn’t end up on top. But not in this case! This things sounds amazing!
Based on the graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman detailing the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, THE WALKING DEAD as a TV series will be following the same basic premise.
