Another one of those “everyone suddenly goes crazy” stories has just gotten the green-light, this one called URGE, written by Guy Busick (the soap-opera Watch Over Me).
According to Variety, the story takes place in a quaint rural town, where the population is suddenly reduced to its most base violent and sexual urges after being exposed to a failed secret government experiment. A small group of locals are left unexposed and struggle to survive and uncover the truth behind the incident.
Sounds a bit like an unofficial CRAZIES remake to me, which of course has an official remake on the way courtesy of Breck Eisner. URGE doesn’t have a director just yet, but it comes from the producers of THE RING and RED EYE, so maybe there’s reason to be hopeful.
