And the 2014 Golden Schmoes winners are…!!

The results are in!

The Schmoes have spoken and the winners of the 2014 Golden Schmoes are here! The overwhelming favorite of 2014 was definitely GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, which had 9 total wins, including Favorite Movie of the Year. The other favorite amongst you guys was BIRDMAN, which took 3 total wins, but each in significant categories, including Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu, Best Actor for Michael Keaton, and Best Supporting Actress for Emma Stone. A pretty good haul for the fan-favorite. The other multi-winner films were GONE GIRL and X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, each winning 2 categories. GONE GIRL took home Best Actress for Rosamund Pike (much deserved, in my opinion) and Best Screenplay, while you guys felt that the Quicksilver sequence in X:MEN: DOFP was both the Most Memorable and Best Action Scene in a Movie.

The notable lack of wins fall to BOYHOOD, which has been cleaning up everywhere else, but not here. The film with the MOST amount of votes went to THE LEGO MOVIE, which won Best Animated Film. Not surprised with that one, as its Oscar snub has fueled many to rally to its defense and righteously so. There weren't many surprises, per se, but some satisfactory wins in my book, including JOHN WICK for Biggest Surprise and EDGE OF TOMORROW for Most Underrated, both of which earned those spots heartily. And, of course, Eva Green took home Best T&A, which she certainly went all out for in 2014. My only surprise was that she won for SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL for over 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, but I'm certainly not complaining.

MOST WINS @ GOLDEN SCHMOES (All-Time):

1. The Dark Knight (2008) 12
2. Return of the King (2003) 10
3. Inception (2010) 9
4. The Two Towers (2002) 9
4. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) 9
5. Sin City (2005) 7
6. Fellowship of the Ring (2001) 7
7. Inglourious Basterds (2009) 6
8. The Departed (2006) 6
9. Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) 6
10. Memento (2001) 6
11. Drive (2011) 6

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's Chris Pratt took Breakthrough Performance for his role as Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) took Coolest Character, adding up the win tally for the Intergalactic Marvel pic. Favorite Celebrity went to Jennifer Lawrence and it wasn't even close. You guys really do love you some JLaw and I, for one, don't blame you. Guardians continued its clean up with Best DVD, Trailer, Poster, and, unsurprisingly, Music. Definitely one of the best soundtracks of the year, even if just a compilation of classic songs and a nice thematic score from Tyler Bates.

Biggest Disappointment of the Year went, naturally, to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, the much-loathed follow up to Sony's recent franchise reboot. However, it's subsequent failure helped lead to Spidey being back in the Marvel world, so perhaps it's kind of a good win. Worst Movie of The Year went to TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, which I couldn't agree more with. A bloated mess from start to finish that was more headache-incuding than anything, it is absolutely in the right spot here. You guys were very clear on Trippiest Movie of the Year, which went to UNDER THE SKIN, and Best Horror Movie of the Year, taken by THE BABADOOK. I'm also pretty happy to see THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL get some love, taking Best Comedy of the Year. Good shit. Overall, I think this is a very good reflection of the pulse of our fans.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the nomination phase and to all who voted in this year's awards! In the end, it's YOU GUYS who decide everything in the Golden Schmoes, from nominations to voting, so this is all about your perspective. Personally, I'm proud to see the wins we have and can't dispute any of them, even if my pick didn't win. Let us know what you think of the results below (respectfully, please) and if you haven't done so already, be sure to enter our OSCAR PREDICTION CONTEST right HERE!
